Animal Health Certificate for Travel to the EU and Northern Ireland

Animals travelling from the UK to Northern Ireland or the EU now require an Animal Health Certificate. EU passports issued by UK vets are no longer valid. Passports issued by EU vets are still valid; however, we cannot sign a rabies vaccination into these, so animals with lapsed vaccinations will require a Health Certificate for travel.

For animals without a rabies vaccination, we require at least 4 weeks’ notice. This allows for the minimum 21-day period required between vaccination and travel. For those already vaccinated against rabies, we require at least 2 weeks’ notice.

These timeframes allow us to allocate an appropriate appointment and prepare all required paperwork with sufficient time to ensure no mistakes are made.

Before your appointment can be booked, we require the following information to be emailed to us, regardless of whether you are a registered client:

• Your full name, address, and contact number

• The name, species, breed, colour, date of birth, and microchip number of your animal(s)

• The country you are travelling to and the country that will be the first point of entry for your animal (e.g. travelling to Spain via France, or Germany via the Netherlands)

• Proof of rabies vaccination (ideally a scanned copy, although a photograph is acceptable)

Once you have emailed us this information, a vet will contact you to arrange the required appointments at a suitable time and provide any further information needed.

Prices

• Animal Health Certificate: £210 (£189 for Happy Paws Club members)

• Additional pet: £40 (£36 for Happy Paws Club members)

• Rabies vaccination: £99.53 (£89.57 for Happy Paws Club members)

Export Certificates

Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to complete Export Health Certificates. These are required in the following circumstances:

• Transport of more than 5 animals

• Transport for commercial export (sale of animals)

• If the animal(s) will arrive more than 5 days before or after you

• Transport outside of the EU
