This is one vaccination only which will protect your rabbit against the following infectious (fatal) diseases: Myxomatosis, Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease (RHD) 1 & RHD 2.
With no cure, myxomatosis is a fatal disease caused by a virus which attacks the eyes, skin, lungs, liver and genitals.
Symptoms include:
- Runny nose.
- Swelling around the eyes, face, ears and genitals.
- Lethargy (low energy).
- Weepy eyes (milky).
- Difficulty eating or drinking.
- Pyrexia (high temperature/fever).
- Skin lumps, ulcers and scabs on the face and body.
Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease (RHD) also known as Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (VHD) is a nasty viral disease which is sadly fatal in most cases. RHD attacks the internal organs such as the liver and causes internal bleeding. There are 2 types (RHD 1 & 2).
RHD1 causes very sudden illness and is fatal within 1-2 days whereas RHD2 often develops more slowly and becomes fatal within 1-2 weeks.
Symptoms include:
- Lethargy (low energy).
- Bleeding from the nose, mouth or bottom.
- Eating less – which can develop into gut stasis (another fatal condition for rabbits).
- Pyrexia (high temperature/fever).
- Sudden death – RHD often develops so quickly that rabbits can suddenly die before owners actually notice any symptoms. PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN THE CURE (remember, there is sadly no cure).
